Titanium and its alloys have many advantages,such as low density,light weight,high specific strength,good low temperature and high temperature properties,excellent corrosion resistance and so on.With the development of titanium and titanium alloy applications,titanium and titanium alloy profiles have been widely used in many fields,such as aviation,aerospace,ocean,chemical industry and so on.Titanium and its alloys are easily polluted by H,O,N and other gaseous elements,have high processing resistance and narrow thermoforming temperature range.It is difficult to produce large size and variable cross-section profiles with high production cost.
At present,China mainly produces some profiles and variable cross-section titanium alloy profiles by mechanical processing,which results in huge processing volume,low metal utilization rate and serious waste of resources.In contrast,the hot extrusion process in the closed extrusion cylinder has become an advanced method for the production of titanium alloy profiles.
Titanium alloy profile,as a semi-finished part with near-final shape,has less processing allowance,high structural efficiency,excellent comprehensive performance and great market potential.
At present,some of the titanium alloy profiles used in our country can be localized,but the titanium alloy profiles used in aviation and aerospace,which have harsh service conditions,mainly rely on imports and are easily restricted by various conditions.With the rapid development of China's aviation and aerospace industry,it is urgent to establish a stable production process for batch production of titanium alloy profiles for key components,and to formulate a unified production standard and inspection requirements for quality determination.
On the basis of mastering some production technologies of simple section titanium alloy profiles,the lubrication conditions,metal strain state and flow direction behavior of complex section titanium alloy profiles during hot extrusion deformation should be studied in China.
In recent years,our country is keen on developing new alloys and expanding new processes in the development of titanium alloys.However,the continuous tapping of the performance potential of old titanium alloys is obviously inadequate.In the process of product development and upgrading,we will encounter various difficulties,and the control of their comprehensive properties is also inadequate.
